Experience The Difference
Colon Hyrdrotherapy
Colon hydrotherapy, also known as colonics, is a gentle way of washing the colon from accumulated waste matter. As the water flows in and out of the colon, it carries with it waste matter. The majority of people are backed up in the colon due to unnatural lifestyle. An impacted colon can lead to a number of health challenges including indigestion, backache, menstrual pain, headache, depression, disturbed sleep, fatigue, body odour, allergy, etc. It is important to continuously cleanse the colon from obstructions. Colonics are also great for breaking unhealthy habits and starting new.

Is colon hydrotherapy safe?
Colon hydrotherapy is safe when performed in a professional setting. At Life Colonics, the certified colon hydrotherapist uses a specialized colonic device, along with disposable supplies (such as speculums, hoses, etc.) for a hygienic practice. The device uses a 3-stage water purification system to remove sediments, chlorine, and microorganisms from the water. The device is also equipped with valves that prevent waste from flowing to the clean water supply. Additionally, the waste pathway in the device is thoroughly disinfected with germicidal solution and then extensively rinsed with water after each client.
How many sessions do I need?
Initially, we recommend 6 sessions (spaced 1 week or less apart). However, this number may vary based on the client’s individual needs. For maintenance, we recommend at least one session per month.

How do I cancel an appointment?
To cancel an appointment, please Contact Us.
How do I prepare for the session?
We suggest refraining from food for at least 2 hours prior to appointment and keeping the diet light (mainly raw fruits and vegetables) for at least 24 hours prior. If this is your first time at our new location, please print, complete, and bring the Client Intake Form with you to the first session.
What should I expect during the session?
During the session, our certified colon hydrotherapist explains the procedure and ensures maximum comfort at all times. The procedure itself is safe and painless. It includes gently inserting a disposable speculum into the rectum and introducing filtered water using gravity pressure to wash the colon. Several water filling and emptying cycles are performed within 35-45 minutes. This loosens waste matter allowing it to be released into a waste hose connected to the drain without exposure to anyone, thus making it a closed system. A lighted “viewing tube” on the device allows us to see discharged matter as it leaves the colon. Therapist gently massages client’s abdomen to help dislodge impacted matter. A good colonic yields 20-30 bowel movements worth of waste. Trapped gases and parasites may also be released. At the end of the session, client is asked to leave table and sit on toilet to release excess water, waste, and gas. Detoxification and healthy living are discussed during the first few sessions.
What should I expect after the session?
After colonics, most people experience an immediate relief (body, mind, and spirit). Clients may return to their daily routines, just as they would after regular bowel movements. It is best to keep the diet light (mainly raw fruits and vegetables) for at least 24 hours after appointment.
New clients may experience discomfort and/or fatigue after colonics, as the cleanse may have stirred up some old toxic matter, which the body wants out. In that case, we recommend resting, applying a heat pad on abdomen, and keeping the diet light (mainly raw fruits and vegetables) or preferably fasting on green juices. The discomfort usually passes within 24 hours. If it persists, book another appointment within the next few days and continue with the light diet and/or fasting. After the first few sessions, almost everyone appreciates the benefits of colonics.
Can I do colonics during menstruation?
Yes. Since the body naturally cleanses itself during menstruation, it is generally considered a good time to detox. Colonics can help relieve the uncomfortable menstrual symptoms. However, some women prefer to wait until their menstruation is over.
What is the difference between enemas and colonics?
Enemas involve a one-time infusion of 1-4 litres of water into the colon. By contrast, colonics involve multiple infusions of 50-200 litres of water allowing it to travel farther. Consequently, enemas flush the lower colon, while colonics can flush the entire colon.
Another important distinction is that enemas are typically performed at home with a do-it-yourself kit purchased over the counter, while colonics typically use specialized equipment administered by a certified colon hydrotherapist.
Are colonics a better alternative to synthetic laxatives?
Yes. Synthetic laxatives irritate the digestive system. Consequently, the body tries to expel them in the form of watery stool, causing incomplete evacuation and dehydration. In contrast, colonics thoroughly wash out waste matter without the use of irritants, thus keeping the body hydrated. If laxatives are necessary, we suggest using mild herbal laxatives on occasion, as long-term daily use can cause the body to develop dependency.
